muito perto de Vila Real, e a cerca de uma hora e meia do Porto de carro, fica Sabrosa, uma pequena vila portuguesa onde se respira Douro e onde a paisagem emerge para as vinhas e socalcos considerados Património da Humanidade.

mesmo no centro da vila, deparamos com a Casa dos Barros, uma lindíssima casa de família senhorial datada do século 18, e onde já tive o privilégio de ficar hospedada.

close to Vila Real, and one hour and a half from Porto by car we reach Sabrosa, a small portugese village where we can feel Douro and where landscape eemerge to the vineyards considered world heritage.

right there in the centre of the village, we see Casa dos Barros, a beautiful family house from the 18th century, where I had the privilege to stay.

duas quintas onde estive há poucos dias atrás em reportagem para o Best of Wine Tourism, e dois locais que tão bem enaltecem o melhor do turismo em Portugal.

Douro region, that magical destiny....

I have been to these two Quintas some days ago, working on a piece for the Best of wine Tourism. they surely are two destinies of the best tourism we can find in Portugal.

The Best of Wine Tourism is part of the Great of Wine Capitals Global Network, an international cooperation network including following cities/regions: Adelaide, South Australia, Bilbao/Rioja, Bordeaux, Cape Town/Cape Winelands, Mainz/Rheinhessen, Mendoza, Porto, Napa Valley/San Francisco, Valparaiso/Casablanca Valley e Verona/Itália, and each year they award some destinies for determined categories.

in 2017, Quinta da Pacheca won the wine restaurant award

sabia que em Santo Tirso - aqui tão perto do Porto - para além de poder comer os melhores jesuítas do país, (mas presumo que isso já sabe!) - existe o Museu Internacional de Escultura Contemporânea (MIEC), e este é o único museu de escultura ao ar livre em Portugal, com cerca de 50 esculturas espalhadas por locais emblemáticos da cidade?

eu confesso que não sabia, e fui até lá à boleia de um instameet organizado pelos Igersporto e pelo município de Santo Tirso.

did you know that in Santo Tirso - so close to Porto - is famous for its "jesuítas", but this many people already knows,... but hosts the International Contemporary Sculture Museum, (MIEC) and it is the only museum  having the sculptures at open air, around 50 art pieces spread through the city.

I admit I did not know that, and went there for an Instameet organised by Igesporto and the Santo Tirso municipality.

em pleno Douro superior, num cenário de cortar a respiração e com a mãe natureza no seu estado elevado, situa-se a Quinta do Orgal, uma quinta adquirida em 2009 pelos mesmos produtores da Quinta do Vallado, e onde, para além de aí se dedicarem à produção de vinho biológico, ergueram a Casa do Rio, uma casa suspensa em madeira, amiga da natureza, e rodeada de um silêncio de ouro.

located in Douro Superior, in a breathtaking scenery with mother nature at its best, we can find Quinta do Orgal, which is now (since 2009) belonging to the same producers of Quinta do Vallado, and where, besides having there the organic wine production, they have built Casa do Rio, a suspended wood house and nature's friendly, surrounded by a golden silence.

o cenário perfeito, na estação do ano perfeita e uma experiência única que só me faz querer voltar.

aliás é quase como que um sonho tornado realidade. 

há muito que queria passear pela região do Douro no outono (para mim a estação sedução) e também há muito que queria conhecer o magnífico Six Senses Douro Valley, magnífico boutique hotel que se ergue ali como que num permanente convite irrecusável.

e assim foi, no início de Novembro a experiência concretizou-se, deixo aqui as imagens que espero consigam transmitir o deslumbre e a maravilha de um dos locais de excelência em Portugal.

the perfect scenery, at the perfect season, and a unique experience that only makes me want to come back here.

it is almost like a dream that came true. for so long time that I was willing to visit the beautiful Douro region in the autumn, and for so long as well that I wanted to stay in this magnificent boutique hotel Six Senses Douro Valley that emerges there as a permanent invitation.

and so by the beginning of November my experience came true, I leave here my pictures, hoping they can let you feel the marvellous and beauty of one place of excellency you can find in Portugal.

o Douro, maravilhoso, imponente.

e perante estas imagens uma única certeza: Portugal é de facto um país lindo, e o outono uma estação do ano completamente sedutora.

no início de Novembro passei um fim-de-semana no Douro, há muito que queria visitar aquela linda região no Outono, fiquei instalada no Six Senses Douro Valley,  (ma-ra-vi-lho-so!) e visitei a Casa do Rio, pertencente à Quinta do Vallado, e onde produzem vinho biológico, em Vila Nova de Foz Côa. 

estou aqui numa luta contra o tempo para publicar os posts respectivos e contar-vos tudinho, mas enquanto eles não saem, aqui umas imagens inspiração. 

e, se puderem, rumem ao Douro enquanto estas cores se mantém! 

P.S. sabiam que Portugal foi eleito pela revista Travel & Leisure destino do ano 2016?:)

Douro, so marvellous, imponent!

and facing these images, I am sure: Portugal is such a beautiful country, and autumn such a seductive season.

In the beginning of november I spent a wonderful weekend there, I wanted to visit the region in the autumn for so log, and I stayed at the wonderful Six Senses Douro Valley, and visited Casa do Rio, belonging to Quinta do Vallado, in Foz Côa, and where they produce organic wine.

I am just fighting against time to get my posts done, and tell you everything about, but while they are not ready, here some pictures for inspiration.

and, if you can, go to Douro while these colours remain. It's absolutely fantastic!

P.S - did you know Portugal has been elected by Travel & Leisure Magazine destination of the year 2016? :)

no passado fim-de-semana rumei a Peniche com o intuito de assistir à etapa do Meo Rip Curl Pro em Portugal, mas os planos saíram-me furados e as condições do mar, do tempo e das ondas fez com que apanhasse o campeonato sempre em stand by.... azar mesmo....., pois logo na segunda-feira seguinte esteve um dia em cheio para o surf, mas eu já não estava por lá.... (não vi nem um único dos meus surfistas queridos!!!....:( (nota: John John Florence foi o vencedor)

mas! a vida seguia por isso ocupei o tempo a passear por ali e a maravilhar-me - como sempre - com a nossa costa, que naquela zona - costa oeste (Peniche, Nazaré,....) tem um mar e um areal de apaixonar qualquer um....

weekend inspiration.....the sea...:)

last wekend I went to Peniche with the idea to watch the Meo Rip Curl Pro Portugal, but my plans did not work as the sea, weather and waves conditions obliged the event to be in stand by .....I was really not lucky as on following monday conditions returned to be perfect....and I was no longer there... (did not see any of my favourite surfers....:( (adding a note: John John Florence was the winner)

anyway, I was there, so I spent my time through the area, getting amazed by the wonderful coast - the west coast (Peniche, Nazaré, Óbidos, ....) and I believe everyone has to fall in love with the sea there!

it is a beautiful city, and a beautiful region, and it was a great weekend!

celebrating port wine day - I @Quinta do Mourão

a convite do Instituto dos Vinhos do Douro e Porto participei na passada semana nas celebrações do dia do vinho do Porto bem como nas celebrações dos 260 da criação da região demarcada do Douro, essa linda região também considerada património mundial e que é sem dúvida de cortar a respiração...

um dia antes do dia oficial do vinho do Porto (dia 10 de Setembro) rumei assim ao Alto Douro Vinhateiro com um grande grupo de jornalistas oriundos de todo o mundo para visitarmos algumas quintas produtoras de vinho do Porto. 

ao meu grupo (fomos previamente distribuídos) calhou visitarmos a Quinta do Mourão, e que bela surpresa!

by invitation of the Port wine and Douro wine Institute I had the pleasure to participate in the port wine day celebrations as well as at the celebrations of the 260 years of the birth  of demarcated douro region, that beautiful region also considered world heritage. and it is surely breathtaking...

one day before the official port wine day (10th September), I had a trip Alto Douro Vinhateiro region, together with a wide group of international journalists, so that we could visit some port wine estate  producers.

my group (we were previously distributed) visited Quinta do Mourão, and what a nice surprise!

o retiro será ministrado por Terra & Pedro Collares, e para além das aulas de yoga, sempre acompanhadas de música e som, haverá outras atividades holísticas como pintura e cânticos em volta de fogueira, rodeados de natureza e possibilidade de ir até à praia fazer um pouco se surf ou simplesmente desfrutar do sol.
