faça por percorrer todo o quarteirão(e não é só a Rua de Miguel Bombarda & Rua do Rosário!!) , entre em todas as galerias, espreite para o fundo das lojas....há muito jardins escondidos, exposições em pisos inferiores e animação onde menos julga encontrar.
ah, e claro, leve consigo um belo sorriso. :)

it is not new, on openings day, all Bombarda district gets even more exciting.
galleries, exhibitions, shops, front shops, animation.
be sure you walk all the district (don´t think it is only Rua Miguel Bombarda & Rua do Rosário!!,), go inside every art gallery, have a look at all th shops backgrounds....there are a lot of hidden gardens, downstairs exhibitions, and animation where you would not think there is...
ah, and of course, bring your nice smile with you:)

INDOURO FEST - SERRA DO PILAR/ JARDIM DO MORRO, 2 & 3 MAIO
pela primeira vez no Porto, ou melhor em Gaia, e num cenário excelente, o Indouro Fest é um festival do circuito indie pop/rock alternativo a não perder. não pense que é só música, como em todos os festivais há muita animação para além do óbvio:)

around Porto - Retro Kitchen
Retro Kitchen é um restaurante ultra simpático que descobri, ao acaso, e sem recomendações, em Braga, enquanto deambulava a pé e já fora de horas.
mas o conceito aqui é mesmo esse: apesar de haver sempre dois pratos do dia à escolha, que podem terminar após a hora de mais azáfama, a cozinha não fecha, e qualquer hora é boa para entrar e comer algo. estará lá o conversador casal, Rui e Tânia, que tudo farão para o bem receber. ( o Rui na cozinha).
fiquei a saber que o espaço está aberto apenas há 4 meses, e que os donos são também os mentores do BUM - Braga Urban Market - um mercadinho de rua, quer tem lugar todos os segundos sábados do mês, e que dizem valer bem a pena visitar. a tendência, tanto do mercado, como do restaurante, é o elemento vintage, bem presente na decoração do restaurante.
se cheguei tarde, saí de lá bem mais tarde ainda, pois conversa puxou conversa, com a coincidência de ter encontrado lá mais pessoas do Porto.
e pois, Braga também está efervescente, e eu fiquei mesmo com vontade de voltar ....

Retro Kitchen is a very nice restaurant I discovered by chance and without recommendations in Braga, while I was walking around and already after regular lunch time.
but the concept is exactly that one: despite having two options in the menu every day for lunch, you can go in later, kitchen will not close and Rui and Tânia are there to welcome you (and Rui to cook for you).
the place just opened four months ago, and the owners are also the organisers of a famous street market in Braga - BUM, the Braga Urban Market - happening each second saturday of the month, and which everybody says it is worth visiting. Vintage is the common element, as you can see at the restaurant.
well, if I arrived late, and got out much later, as we talked a lot, and even met someone else from Porto.
and yes, Braga is also with so much going on, I have to go back....
around Porto - Theatro Circo

há uns dias atrás andei por Braga, apenas por umas horas e por sugestão da Lifecooler, e aproveitei para visitar o fabuloso Theatro Circo, que a 20 de Abril comemorou um século de vida.
um teatro lindo, totalmente recuperado e com uma programação cultural viciante. (veja programação actual aqui)
Braga, é para mim uma das cidades mais bonitas do Norte de Portugal, e fica a um instantinho do porto, pelo que soube mesmo bem o passeio.

some days ago I have been to Braga, just for a few hours and following Lifecooler suggestion. so I took the opportunity to visit Theatro Circo, which completed 100 years old last 20 April.
it is a beautiful theatre, completely restored, and with a fantastic cultural activity. you can have a look at complete program here.
Braga is one of the most beautiful cities from the North of Portugal, and it is so close to Porto, so I really enjoyed the trip.

Moda Up - workshops & style
a propósito do Moda UP, nos Armazéns Marques Soares (ver post anterior aqui), assisti a um workshop de sobremesas saudáveis (sem açuçar e sem gluten) dado pela Mafalda Pinto Leite. e vim de lá com óptimas ideias....siga o site da Mafalda para se inspirar com muitas mais receitas deliciosas e saudáveis. eu acredito mesmo que vale muito a pena investir na nossa saúde, e que tudo passa pela alimentação!

due to Moda UP, at Marques Soares department store (see post here), I went to a workshop on healthy desserts (sugar and gluten free) by Mafalda Pinto Leite. and I came with a lot of ideas. if you want to get inspired by delicious healthy food, follow Mafalda's site. I really believe it is a good investment to care for our health, and that it has a lot to do with what we eat.

Size é o restaurante dos Armazéns Marques Soares. provavelmente ainda não está familiarizado, mas a verdade é que no último andar destes armazéns míticos da cidade do Porto - que se estendem por mais de um quarteirão da baixa e onde encontra um grande número de marcas prestigiadas - existe um simpático restaurante onde pode, antes, depois, ou a meio das suas compras, parar para almoçar, lanchar ou jantar.
desta vez fui até lá (e almocei super bem!) a propósito do MODA UP, uma campanha que os Armazéns fazem no início de cada estação (primavera /verão e outono/inverno).
sugiro que aproveite e passe por lá também, tem até ao dia 9 de Maio para usufruir de excelentes descontos e para participar em workshops gratuitos, com bloggers convidadas e sobre diversos temas - eu fui ao da Mafalda Pinto Leite, aprender um pouquinho mais sobre sobremesas sem açúcar e sem glúten (em breve um post mais detalhado sobre este workshop).

Size is the restaurant on the top of the mythical department store from Porto Marques Soares. Maybe you do not know, but at the top floor of the department store - located in more than one block in the centre of Porto and presenting a great number of prestigious brands - there is a nice restaurant and bar, where you should go before, after or during your shopping there. and you can have lunch, tea or dinner.
this time I went there because of MODA UP, a style campaign they do each new season Spring/Summer or Fall/Winter.
I suggest you go there too, you have until the 9th May to benefit from several promotions and participate in a lot of free workshops, with invited bloggers, and on different subjects - I attended the one given by Mafalda Pinto Leite, about sugar and gluten free desserts (soon a detailed post)

Vernazza Coffee Roasters é uma nova marca de café artesanal, nascida em Janeiro de 2015 e com produção na Maia.
eu fui até lá perceber um bocadinho melhor o que é isso do café artesanal, e vim de lá rendida....
só o facto de o café ser torrado manualmente, faz com que os aromas e os sabores dos grãos sejam melhor preservados, havendo depois todo um ritual de servir que enaltece o prazer de saborear o café....conseguem sentir o aroma...?
apesar de estarem há pouco tempo no mercado, o Vernazza café já pode ser encontrado em alguns locais bonitos do Porto, como por exemplo no Rosa et Al, na Oficina - Café Criativo, na Galeria -bar Espiga, no Mesa 325, entre outros...., e com certeza vão começar a aparecer em muitos mais locais da cidade, basta estarem atentos, e não deixem de experimentar!

Vernazza Coffee Roasters is a new brand of handmade coffee, born in January 2015 and with its production in Maia. (very close to Porto)
I went there to understand better what it means to drink a handmade coffee, and surrended....
the fact that coffee is roasted by hand preserves the blend and the original tastes of the grains, and after that there is all the ritual of serving the coffee which highlights the pleasure of coffee drinking. ...can you feel this blend?..:)
despite the recent life, Vernazza coffee can be tasted in some nice places in Porto already, like Rosa et Al, Oficina - Café Criativo, Galeria -bar Espiga, Mesa 325, among others..., and surely they will be appearing in many other places, do not forget to try it!
Time out party
A Time Out Porto celebrou 5 anos e como sempre as festas são um sucesso. desta vez a festa foi no Coliseu, na passada sexta-feira, com animação diversa e a DJ Sininho de serviço. o tema, foi o circo, e o Porto aderiu:)

hoje, a minha convidada na série Monday Vegetarian Recipes (ver anteriores convidadas aqui, agora já todas arrumadinhas num só sítio) é a Maria Aragão, autora do livro Omeletas sem Ovos.
só conheci pessoalmente a Maria no dia em que nos encontramos para a sessão de fotos. confesso que lhe fiquei com uma grande admiração, aliás como sempre fico pelas pessoas que transparecem à primeira vista toda a paixão com que se dedicam às coisas, mesmo quando nem sequer ganham muito dinheiro com isso.
A Maria Aragão sempre gostou muito de cozinhar (e de comer:), e sempre gostou especialmente dos sabores tradicionais portugueses. decidiu tornar-se vegan há cerca de 11 anos, por motivos éticos, devido à sua paixão pelos animais e por ter pertencido em tempos à direcção da Associação Animal. ao despertar para a importância dos direitos dos animais, e nessa sua transição de estilo de vida, quis tentar encontrar os mesmos sabores da comida a que estava habituada, deixando apenas de incluir qualquer alimento de origem animal.
tudo começou a sair tão bem, que por brincadeira começou a dar workshops de cozinha vegetariana; a verdade é que os workshops começaram a ser um sucesso, e daí até ser sugestionada a escrever um livro não demorou muito. recorreu ao crowdfunding, e, com sucesso, viu a primeira edição do Omeletas Sem Ovos sair em Dezembro de 2014. a segunda edição, não demorou e saiu em Fevereiro deste ano.
um livro bonito, com receitas deliciosas e que imitam na perfeição as receitas tradicionais portuguesas. eu aconselho à compra e a estar atenta à página da Maria Aragão, onde pode saber informações de futuros workshops ou de próximas apresentações do livro.
as fotos foram tiradas num local lindo e importante para a Maria, pois foi onde começou a dar os seus primeiros workshops - a Casa de Juventude de Matosinhos.

my guest today at the Monday Vegetarian Recipes (see previous guests here, finally all in the same place:), is Maria Aragão, the author of the book Omeletas Sem Ovos.
I only met Maria at the day of the photo session, but confess, I have now great admiration for her. (as I have for all the people who do what they like with great passion, and we can notice that at first sight. even if they do not earn a lot money with that).
Maria Aragão always loved to cook (and to eat), but specially the traditional portuguese food. she decided to turn vegan 11 years from now, due to ethical reasons, because she loves animals, and she was partt of the direction of Associação Animal. getting to know the animals rights, and in the transition of her lifestyle, she decided to try to cook and maintain all the flavours she was used to, but without animal food.
everything went so great, that she was invited to give some workshops and then quickly the idea of the book appeared, she raised a crowd funding campaign, and successfully, first book came out on December 2014. second edition was out on February 2015.
it is a nice book, with delicious recipes and all of them imitate traditional portuguese recipes.
I suggest you follow Maria's page, so that you know all the coming workshops or even some events with the presentation of the book.

POP 101 - vegan & vegetarian tapas bar

Pop 101 é um bar de tapas, gerido pela Alexandra e pelo Daniel, e fica na Rua de Trás. podia ser um bar como outro qualquer, onde se bebe um copo e se petisca umas coisas, mas é um bocadinho mais do que isso: pode petiscar e beber um copo, sim, mas o que petiscar é vegan ou vegetariano:)
e não vale pensar que vai passar fome....vá até lá e depois conte-me...e se lhe fizer muita falta os sabores da carne, experimente a alheira ou as salsichas vegan....
(para mim, o highlight são os queijinhos vegan feitos pela Ana Mineiro, mas também pode sempre optar por escolher queijos normais).
a par dos petiscos, e como qualquer bar, organiza por vezes prova de vinhos, eu fui a uma prova de vinhos brancos ecológicos, apresentada pela Ecowines.

Pop 101 is a tapas bar, run by Alexandra and Daniel, at rua de Trás. It could be a bar like all the others, where you can have a drink and eat something, but it is a little bit more than that: you can drink something of course, and eat, but what you will have for eating is vegan or vegetarian.
and do not think you will be hungry...go there and tell me after...and if you really miss the meat flavour, try the vegan "alheira" or sausage.
(for me, the highlight are the vegan cheese, made by Ana Mineiro, but you can always have the normal cheese.)
besides tapas, and as all other bars, they organize some wine tastings, I went to an eco Wine Tasting, presented by Ecowines.

Circus - é o mais recente espaço cultural da Rua do Rosário, e um projecto a três (da Ana Muska, da Lara Luís e do André Carvalho), três ilustradores e amantes de street art, que já tinham estado à frente do Festival Push Porto (ver post aqui)
o espaço engloba uma galeria de ilustração e arte urbana, uma loja, e um espaço de cowork.

humm, sunday brunch...
os brunchs de domingo estão na moda, e eu confesso que sou fã. nada melhor do que fazer uma refeição tardia e diferente da que estamos habituadas, à qual nem podemos chamar de pequeno-almoço, (porque é muito mais do que isso), nem propriamente de almoço, porque grande parte das vezes até comemos cereais e leite....
há já alguns domingos atrás fui experimentar o brunch do Hotel F Ipanema Park, um hotel 5 estrelas e pertencente à cadeia Hóteis Fénix.
o Hotel é super agradável e bonito, e a sala de brunch tem vistas para o jardim, o que o torna ainda mais agradável.
quanto ao brunch em si...hummm, muito bom e recomendo: pode optar por comer coisas mais leves, ou então comer mesmo pratos principais, e depois perder-se na mesa de sobremesas...
para mim, brunch não é brunch sem comer panquecas, e estas que comi no HF Ipanema Parque estavam deliciosas.....

sunday brunches are now very common, and I am a fan. there is nothing better than let your imagination go and have a different meal which you cannot call breakfast, before you eat much more, neither lunch....
some sundays ago I tried this brunch from Hotel F Ipanema Park (a five star Hotel from the Fénix hotels chain)
The hotel is very pleasant and beautiful and the room where brunch is served has views to a garden, which is even more pleasant.
regarding the brunch itself, hummm it was delicious, and I recommend it: you can choose to eat a lighter meal or a proper meal, and then get lost with the choice of desserts....
for me, brunch is no brunch if I do not eat pancakes, and these from Hotel F Ipanema Park were real good...

quem segue o blog já sabe, à segunda-feira há por aqui uma receita vegetariana e uma pequena conversa com alguém vegetariano e que partilhe essa sua maneira de estar de alguma forma.

hoje, a conversa é com a Elsa Pinto. a Elsa é vegan, é uma das mentoras da Associação Midas (Associação de protecção dos animais) e gere um site de receitas e de venda de bolos para fora que é o Capuchinho Verde. o Capuchinho Verde é essencialmente um site de bolos vegan (e quem é vegan quase sempre o é por motivos éticos, por isso muitos vegans acabam por aceitar incluir o açúcar na alimentação). inicialmente a ideia era fazer entregas em casa das pessoas, tendo isso no entanto acabado por se tornar complicado com as exigências normais do dia-a-dia: foi também um projecto criado juntamente com outra pessoa, que lamentavelmente já não está entre nós, e que a Elsa decidiu não abandonar. assim, continua de corpo e alma a partilhar e a fazer bolos vegan para fora.
bolos mesmo bons, hummm, - e o sonho da Elsa é um dia abrir uma confeitaria vegan - pois sente que como ela, há muita gente vegan que não encontra opções facilmente à venda - a única hipótese é mesmo andar sempre com uma marmita.
a sessão de fotos teve lugar numa das lojas favoritas da Elsa, a Celeiro.
eu, que sou um pouco avessa a shoppings (!!) primeiro torci o nariz, mas depois descobri por mero acaso a loja Celeiro no shopping Cidade do Porto, um shopping calminho e arejado, à face da rua, e bem simpático, por sinal. e então concordei...
entrando na Celeiro, temos um mundo de produtos maravilhosos, e uma equipa simpática a atender-nos....:)

who follows my blog already knows, on mondays there is a vegetarian recipe and a little talk with someone vegetarian who somehow shred that point of view.

today, little talk is with Elsa Pinto. Elsa is vegan, is one of the creators of Associação Midas (in Love for the animals), and has a site with vegan recipes called Capuchinho Verde. It is essentially a site for vegan cakes (vegan people normal are so for ethical reasons and a lot of vegan people accept sugar in what they eat). initially the idea was to deliver the recipes at clients homes, but that turned out to be difficult. it was also a project created by two persons, but unfortunately the other person is no longer with us, so Elsa decided not to abandon it, and goes on doing delicious cakes for sale.
and cakes are really delicious, hummm - and Elsa's dream is to open a vegan candy shop, because she is aware most vegans don't find a place to eat something in the middle of the day, they always have to carry their own bowl.
photo session took place at one of Elsa's favourite shop - Celeiro.
as I am a bit agains shoppings, first I did't want it to be there, but by chance discovered Celeiro at shopping Cidade do Porto - a nice and quiet shopping - and finally agreed...:)
and once you go in at Celeiro, it is full of great products, and people there are very nice.

O que diz a tua Sombra?
quem andou pela Casa da Música no fim-de-semana do aniversário deve estar a reconhecer este projecto: um projecto levado a cabo por Adélia Santos Costa com o apoio da Universidade do Porto e que visa "investigar o cosmo da sombra nos espaços públicos da cidade do Porto, tendo como principal objectivo reflectir sobre a relação que o indivíduo/transeunte poderá ter com um determinado lugar".
na foto acima vê-se um pouco da minha sombra, ou seja, a minha canon, ou melhor, a alça da canon....:):)

à Capucha - it's style & tradition
bem sei que já devia estar a falar de peças de roupa primaveris e frescas, mas estas capuchas são lindas e com jeitinho podem ser usadas o ano inteiro, para além do inverno.
além disso, este foi um dos projectos selecionados recentemente pelo Aicep Portugal para um vídeo representivo de Portugal e atrair investimento no nosso país. Boa Porto!
À Capucha é um projeto de 3 criativas do Porto, que decidiram recriar as capuchas tradicionais usadas antigamente, especialmente pelas mulheres e homens que trabalhavam no campo. eram usadas em quase todas as ocasiões, fosse para ir assustar os lobos ou para o trabalho no dia-a-dia.
super práticas, impermeáveis e todas em burel (100% lã, super quentinhas portanto), não têm fecho nem remate e não sofreram praticamente alterações das originais. existem em edições limitadas e numeradas, só em seis cores, e por isso muito dificilmente haverá uma igual à outra.
a equipa trabalha com artesãos especializados e com a conhecida designer têxtil Helena Cardoso e vende as suas peças apenas online. têm, no entanto, um showroom na Rua do Pinheiro, caso queira ver as capuchas ao vivo, e vale mesmo a pena.
os países que mais compram são os países nórdicos e Inglaterra, apesar de em Portugal as vendas terem sido uma surpresa. eu própria adoraria ter uma....

I know I should be showing now fresh clothes for the spring, but these coats "capuchas" are so beautiful and with a little effort can be used all year long.
besides that, this was a project selected by Aicep Portugal to represent Portugal in a video trying to capture investment to our country! Congratulations Porto!
À Capucha is a project from 3 creative girls from Porto, who decide to recreate the traditional coats used by women and men long time ago in the country. they were used for everything, was it for scaring the wolfs, or for working in the fields.
they are super practical, water - resistant and all in burel (100% wool, so quite warm), do not have closures and do not differ much from the originals. they are limited and numbered editions, in only sis colours, so it is very difficult to find one like the other.
the team works with craft people and with the well known textile designer Helena Cardoso. the product can be bought only online, but there is a showroom in Rua do Pinheiro, if you want to have a look at the capuchas by yourself. the countries from the north and from Great Britain are the countries that buy the most, but Portugal was also a good surprise. I would not mind to have one myself....
Hotel Teatro - your stage in Porto

hoje convido-vos a entrar em mais um lindíssimo e carismático Hotel da nossa cidade - O Hotel Teatro - o primeiro hotel do Porto a fazer parte da marca internacional Design Hotels.
O Hotel Teatro instalou-se no mesmo local onde em 1859 se inaugurava o Teatro Baquet, na Rua de Sá da Bandeira - e daí o seu nome.
Mal se entra, tudo é cénico, desde a recepção a imitar uma bilheteira, as chaves que são um bilhete, o restaurante e o bar que são o palco e a plateia respectivamente, e pelos corredores e quartos podem ver-se vestimentas da época penduradas.
os quartos, que são 74, lindíssimos e de um conforto extremo têm uma particularidade que eu adorei: a banheira, daquelas antigas, tem lugar de destaque em pleno quarto:)
o Hotel tem ainda um ginásio, num dos pisos superiores, e vistas para o centro da cidade.

today I invite you to visit another beautiful and glamorous Hotel of our city - Hotel Teatro - the first Hotel in Porto to be part of the international brand Design Hotels.
Hotel Teatro was constructed in the same place as the once existing Theatre Baquet, in 1859, and that's why the name. it is located downtown, at Rua Sá da Bandeira.
as soon as you get inside, everything is scenic: the reception looks like the box office, room keys are like a ticket, and restaurant and bar are like stage and plateia. it is also common you see clothes from that time hanging on the corridors.
rooms are 74, all beautiful and with extreme comfort, and they a have a particularity I liked a lot: in most of them the bathtub has a special place in the room:)
the Hotel has also a gym upstairs, and a nice view to the center of Porto.

um cenário perfeito num fim de tarde perfeito e um recital de harpa sublime. foi assim o meu final de tarde de domingo, num dos espaços lindos da nossa cidade.
Ana Aroso é uma jovem música ultra talentosa, nascida no Porto e já com diversos prémios ganhos no seu currículo. neste momento estuda em Bruxelas, no Koninklijk Bachelor of Arts in Music, mas esteve pelo Porto, mais precisamente no Yoga sobre o Porto, um espaço onde para além de poder fazer Yoga e dança, promove também alguns pequenos espectáculos (ver anterior post sobre este espaço aqui).

it was the perfect scenario at the perfect evening, together with a sublime harp recital. it was like that my sunday evening, in a beautiful place of our city.
Ana Aroso is a young talented musician, born in Porto, and with a lot of prizes in her CV. at the moment she is studying in Brussels, at the Koninklijk Bachelor of Arts in Music, but was in Porto, more precisely at Yoga sobre o Porto, a place where you can practice yoga or dance, but that also promotes some small cultural events.
