viver o Porto: tasting excellent wines: HMR @The Cork House (new restaurant in town)

há uns dias atrás fui à apresentação da nova gama dos vinhos Pousio, gama produzida pela Herdade do Monte da Ribeira - HMR - eleito produtor do ano 2015 - e que teve lugar num dos mais recentes restaurantes do Porto, O The Cork House, situado junto ao Largo dos Lóios, e com uma esplanada virada para a Praça das Cardosas que está brevemente a abrir (se é que já não abriu....).

some days ago I went to the presentation of Pousio Wines, which are produced by Herdade do Monte da Ribeira - HMR - elected producer of the year - and lunch took place at one of the most recent restaurants in Porto, The Cork House, located close to Largo dos Lóios, and opening soon a nice "esplanada" to the Praça das Cardosas (or maybe it has opened already).

o almoço decorreu em jeito de "workshop", onde António Nora, diretor de vinhos da HMR explicou um pouco a história do crescimento e sucesso nacional e internacional dos seus vinhos e ensinou aos presentes como melhor harmonizar e provar cada tipo de vinho.

lunch occurred in a way of a workshop, where António Nora, wine director at HMR explained the story of the national and international success of the wines, and reached how to better taste each kind of wine.

o The Cork House está a cargo de Pedro Veloso, já com bastante experiência anterior noutros bons restaurantes do Porto, que agora se vê à frente de um espaço só seu, apostando na gastronomia nacional e em homenagear a cortiça, esse produto tão português.

o espaço é bonito e acolhedor, e os pratos que provei estavam todos deliciosos.

tudo isto, juntamente com a prova de excelentes vinhos da HMR,.....bem, foi uma almoço 5 estrelas.

só posso mesmo recomendar ambos: os vinhos e o restaurante! :)

The Cork House belongs to Pedro Veloso, who has large previous experience in other good restaurants in Porto, and now has its own place, privileging the national gastronomy and the cork, this typical portuguese product.

place is nice and cosy, and the food excellent.

this, together with all the excellent wines from HMR that I tasted, well I had a 5 star lunch.

I can only recommend both things: the wines and the restaurant! :)
